cetirizine hydrochloride

Brand and Other Names: ZYRTEC ALLERGY
Mechanism of Action:

Cetirizine is an antihistamine that works by blocking histamine receptors to reduce allergy symptoms.

Indications:

Provides temporary relief from symptoms of hay fever or other upper respiratory allergies, including runny nose, sneezing, itchy/watery eyes, and itchy nose or throat.

Route: oral
Dose:

Adults and children 6 years and over should take one 10 mg capsule once daily. Do not exceed one capsule in 24 hours. Lower doses may be appropriate for milder symptoms.

Adverse Reactions:

May cause drowsiness. Drowsiness can be increased by alcohol, sedatives, and tranquilizers.

Contraindication:

Known allergy to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, or any product ingredients.

Warnings and Precautions:

Do not use if allergic to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, or any ingredients in the product. Use caution with liver or kidney disease—consult a doctor. Avoid alcohol and use caution when driving or operating machinery. Not recommended while breastfeeding.
