loratadine pseudoephedrine

Mechanism of Action:

Loratadine is a non-sedating antihistamine that blocks peripheral H₁ receptors, and pseudoephedrine is a decongestant that shrinks swollen nasal mucous membranes by stimulating alpha-adrenergic receptors.

Indications:

Temporarily relieves symptoms of hay fever and upper respiratory allergies including sneezing, runny nose, itchy/watery eyes, nasal congestion, sinus pressure, and itchy throat or nose.

Route: oral
Dose:

Adults and children 12 years and older should take one extended-release tablet once daily with a full glass of water; do not exceed one tablet in 24 hours.

Adverse Reactions:

May cause nervousness, dizziness, or sleeplessness; allergic reactions are possible and require immediate medical attention.

Contraindication:

Do not use with MAOIs or if allergic to ingredients; consult a doctor if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, diabetes, or kidney/liver issues; may cause drowsiness if taken in excess.

Description:

Claritin-D 24 Hour combines a second-generation antihistamine (loratadine 10 mg) and a nasal decongestant (pseudoephedrine sulfate 240 mg) in a once-daily extended-release tablet for 24-hour relief of allergy and congestion symptoms.
