clindamycin phosphate and benzoyl peroxide gel

Indications:

Indicated for topical treatment of acne vulgaris.

Route: topical
Dose:

BenzaClin Topical Gel should be applied twice daily, morning and evening, or as directed by a physician, to affected areas after the skin is gently washed, rinsed with warm water and patted dry.

Adverse Reactions:

Most common adverse effects:

  • Dry skin (12%)

  • Peeling, pruritus, erythema, and application site reactions

Rare but serious: Anaphylaxis and allergic reactions (reported post-marketing).

Contraindication:

Hypersensitivity to clindamycin, lincomycin, or other components.

History of regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis, or antibiotic-associated colitis.

Warnings and Precautions:

Severe colitis, including pseudomembranous colitis, may occur due to systemic absorption.

Not to be used with erythromycin products due to possible antagonism.

Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.

Potential for photosensitivity — patients should avoid sunlight and use sunscreen.
